UNC Chapel Hill Case Competition
The Carolina Case Challenge hosted its 2026 competition, bringing together students and employers through a dynamic case competition experience that emphasized collaboration, innovation, and real-world problem solving.
About
Teams at the Carolina Case Challenge delivered solutions that were both innovative and practical, as they tackled a complex energy case centered on Duke Energy’s rapidly growing electricity demand driven by AI-powered data centers. With billions in required infrastructure investment and rising concerns around affordability and rate increases, teams were challenged to balance economic growth with fair and sustainable financing strategies. A panel of experienced judges evaluated each team’s work, emphasizing creativity, feasibility, and overall impact. Participating teams demonstrated exceptional collaboration, critical thinking, and the ability to apply interdisciplinary knowledge, skills that will serve them well in their future careers.
